This question seems to be asked everywhere, in the media, on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, all beauty blogs I come across. How to look good without makeup? Yes, without even a drop of foundation! Natural look and all that stuff. I get it and do zero-makeup weekends from time to time but I love makeup and can’t give it up. Why? Let me present some surprising benefits of wearing makeup. I’m sure most of you have no idea that applying it daily turns out to have so many advantages!

5 benefits of wearing makeup every day

1. Day-to-day makeup = sun protection

Solar radiation is the biggest enemy of skin, it worsens its condition (let alone skin cancer). The thing that makes me apply SPF-infused foundation every day is the fact that the sunlight causes rapid and irreversible skin damage, dries it out and makes it produce spots. Why wouldn’t you apply SPF then?! You just need to pick a decent product (min. SPF 15). Today’s foundations are quite lightweight even when featuring a high factor, and make a great pick even in the summertime, they don’t run down, giving effective protection from the sun damage.

2. Day-to-day makeup = anti-pollution shield

UV radiation isn’t the only threat to skin. The civilization’s advancement has its dark side: toxins and smog. Big city life is a burden for the skin. Particles cause oxidative stress and diseases, as well as have a negative effect on skin. If you’re a city dweller, hide your unfortunate face under a layer of makeup! This way toxins settle on skin but they don’t penetrate it. After coming back home, take off makeup and all nasties. Now you can enjoy your no-makeup time. 🙂

3. Day-to-day makeup = professional skin care

All you need to do is choose a fine-quality foundation which won’t clog the skin pores. Find an innovative product tailored to your needs. Today’s foundations condition the skin because they are high in marvelous ingredients such as vitamins, minerals, sebum-absorbing agents, even anti-acne, antiaging, brightening and smoothing substances as well as active plant extracts and mineral pigments that can heal the skin. Nowadays makeup isn’t all about creating the look – it also equals excellent skin care and enhancement for moisturizers.

4. Day-to-day makeup = expressing your artistic side

To me, makeup isn’t all about slathering products all over the face. Applying foundation and highlighter flawlessly, creating sexy eye definition and face contouring can be also a form of artistic expression. Many people show their personality or emotions through makeup. They exhibit their artistic sense, a gift for working with colors and a skill – I’m sure you agree that you need a skilled hand for some elements of makeup. Just a couple of colors turn your face around. Makeup can be so much fun – you can choose between endless colors, ideas, combinations… One day you apply delicate, soft makeup, on the other day – try a bold look for a change! Find the most flattering version, do something different every day.

Makeup is like a therapy for me and a moment for planning my day schedule. I can actually say I apply makeup automatically because I’ve already mastered some techniques – that’s why while doing it, I can relax. Besides I simply love makeup trends and follow them religiously. Thanks to that I’ve discovered some jewels like Bourjois BB Cream which is budget and amazing, and miraculous Lashcode Mascara which boosts lash growth!

5. Day-to-day makeup = camouflage of defects

Lastly, the thing that makes most of us reach for makeup products. Camouflage, hiding imperfections as well as enhancing the best features. Somebody has short lashes but amazes with beautiful eyes. You’ve got thin lips but your cheekbones have an amazing natural shape, etc. Makeup focuses on camouflaging what we don’t like and bringing out what we think should be highlighted.

Of course, we also want this camouflage to last the longest possible. That’s why primers were made. They are usually gels and aim at making foundation long-wear. If you’re pressed for time or don’t feel like applying makeup, use nothing but a primer. The only thing you must consider before purchasing your base is matching it to your skin type. Now I’m using pearl makeup primer which looks like a moisturizer. It is fast-absorbing, has a gorgeous brightening effect and evens out my skin tone. When my skin suffers from dry indoor air in winter I reach for Nanoil Argan Oil (under foundation or mixed with foundation). The effect of rested, illuminated skin – guaranteed! Nanoils are superb beauty oils which act like makeup primers and many other cosmetics, you must check them!

What do you make of makeup now? I hope you won’t be afraid of using it every day after running through all benefits. Makeup was, is and will be IN because it can do more than merely camouflage pimples! 🙂
