Do you know how much face cream you should use while carrying out your daily skincare routine? If you use too little – it won’t work. If you use too much – it may do more harm than good to your skin.

Obviously, this rule doesn’t only apply to face creams but also to all the beauty products that you use on a daily basis. It’s a good thing to know how to scoop out portions of cosmetics to do both: help the product deliver the desired effects and don’t waste too much of it. And this is what I want to tell you about today. About the amount of cosmetics that you should use in order to provide your skin with the care it needs and save money! Enjoy!

PERFECT COSMETIC PORTIONS

Face cream, shampoo, natural oil, eye cream… each cosmetic has a defined consistency and a concentration of the substances responsible for delivering particular effects. It’s a good thing to know how much cosmetic to apply to make it work and don’t let it harm your skin.

Thanks to applying the perfect cosmetic proportions, you will avoid the problems such as: overburdened skin, greasy and heavy hair, clogged skin pores/acne, irritation, etc. Additionally, once you learn how much product is the most beneficial, you will be able to reduce the frequency of visiting drugstores to keep your beauty product inventory supplied.

Face cream. How much should you use?

The perfect face cream portion has the size of an almond. Before spreading it on face, it’s better to warm it up in the hands (you can rub the hands to help it warm up). Thanks to this, it will be easier for you to spread the cream over your face and then help it penetrate skin deeper.

Face serum. How much should you use?

A far more concentrated cosmetic than face cream. This in turn means that you should use less of it – especially when you realize that treating skin with too much of a highly concentrated product might irritate it, sensitive skin in particular. What is the perfect face serum portion? I could compare it to the size of a coffee grain, which is more or less 3-4 drops.

Face mask. How much should you use?

When it comes to face masks, the issue concerning portion control is a little bit more complicated. As a general rule, the dollop you use is comparable with the size of face cream – almond-size. However, if you think about peel-off masks, you should use the portion that allows you to cover the entire face evenly and then, once it cakes, remove in one piece. In most cases though such products are already portioned out for us – they are available in one-use sachets.

Face scrub. How much should you use?

No matter if you use mechanical (with abrasive particles) or enzymatic peel, you should always use the same amount of the product. The perfect face scrub portion resembles a raspberry – it should suffice.

Face wash. How much should you use?

Frequently we have this feeling that the more gel, mousse, milk or soap for face we use, the cleaner our skin will be. Nothing could be further from the truth! The optimal size of face wash used for one face cleansing resembles a cranberry size. Too little? Not really, especially if you water it down a little bit before spreading the cosmetic over your face.

Makeup remover. How much should you use?

Lotions and milks that help you free the skin from color cosmetics belong to the group of the least efficient products. It’s because there is one golden rule to follow: you must keep removing makeup until you see a cotton pad clean.

Eye cream. How much should you use?

Let’s get back to creams, or to just one cream – eye cream in particular. And here again we tend to apply too much of it, whereas just the size of a grain of rice suffices entirely (one such portion for each eye). Skin surrounding our eyes is really gentle so there is no use overburdening it with creams.

Shampoo. How much should you use?

Do the portions of the shampoo you use vary accordingly to the length of your hair? I used to think that too before I realized that shampoo is a product for scalp, not hair. You should use it to cleanse the skin of the head and hair roots. And the perfect portion to accomplish this task resembles a ripe strawberry fruit. And here – alike face wash – it’s better to water a shampoo down before spreading it over the scalp.

Hair conditioner and hair mask. How much should you use?

In the case of hair conditioners and maks the perfect cosmetic portion depends on how long your hair is. For example, if your hair is short, you should use a cherry-size portion, whereas in the case of long hair, you should use three or even four times more of it.

I hope that from now on you won’t use too much of beauty products. Tell me who decided to change their habits concerning cosmetic use πŸ™‚
