One my favourites yet not the top pick. Ouai Heat Protection Spray has some good ingredients. Not only does it protect against heat but also softens and smooths my frizzy strands. The formula is based on oils and botanical extracts e.g. from chamomile, wild rose and Barbary fig. I like how it smells and how light it is despite oils – it doesn’t overload the hair. The spray brilliantly protects from the heat. What about the negatives? It doesn’t last long, and costs a lot.
Balmain Thermal Protection Spray
It’s another oil-based heat protectant spray and similarly to the previous one – it is lightweight and non-overburdening; even when I happen to use too much, my hair stays fresh. Balmain Thermal Protection Spray lasts long and smells amazing – the scent lingers on for a long time. The product beautifies and hydrates the hair, and does what it’s made for, protecting the hair from heat and UV rays. I used it throughout the summer and my hair never got dry, stiff or dull from the sun. It leaves the strands soft and manageable. Sadly, it’s expensive and I don’t think I’ll buy it again given that I’ve got a budget-friendly and terrific spray from Nanoil.
Kevin Murphy Ever Smooth Spray
If you think the above sprays are expensive then this one will definitely shock you. Let’s focus on the effects, though. Kevin Murphy Ever Smooth Spray is one of the coolest products for thermal protection. It’s Kevin Murphy so we shouldn’t be surprised… Is it worth the price? Make your own judgement. I love the effect. It has a slightly different way of working – the ingredients need to be activated by heat to start deeply nourishing and protecting the hair. The product also has good hold and doesn’t leave the hair stiff or crunchy. It stops frizz and static.
