Have you already heard about powder cleansers?
Let me start from explaining that powder cleanser is a natural substitute for soap, gel and mousse. In general, the benefits that powder cleansers offer are owed to the properties of clays used. Today, I’m going to tell you a few things about powder cleansers. Also, I’ll give you a recipe for homemade rose powder cleanser – which I adore – so you too can wash your face with it!

Face clean-up: How to do it?
I know, you would like to say “fast.” But I’ll do my best to convince you to replace this “fast” with “thoroughly.”
I guess, I’ve already mentioned this in one of my previous posts that, to me, multi-stage face cleansing is the best form of face washing. Focusing not on wiping makeup off cursorily but on careful face washing, performed step by step, in order to remove 100% impurities (not only makeup but also toxins, excess sebum, dead skin cells, dust, etc.).
My way of making face clean is simpler.
- Makeup removal – with the use of a micellar cleanser I remove eye, lip and the entire face makeup. Remember not to rub the eyes vigorously because you may end up with plucking lashes out. Instead, press a damp cotton pad to your eyes and wait a while to allow the micelles bond with impurities and take them from your face.
- OCM – oil cleansing method is my personal hit that I’ve discovered lately and I’m just astonished at the effects it creates. Instead of dehydrating my face with soap, I apply a castor-and-almond oil blend and massage it into my face for a few minutes. Finally, I rinse it with warm water.
- Hair washing – and this is when powder cleanser moves in (the recipe below). I use the powder to wash down the residues of dirt and toxins that don’t only gather on skin’s surface but also in skin pores.
* Additionally, once a week I expand this treatment by adding the fourth step, which is scrub (obviously DIY) that fosters removal of dead skin cells.
The headliner of this post – powder cleanser
Why do I use powder to clean my face with instead of reaching for a regular face gel or soap? Just because I like my skin and neither do I want to overburden it with excess chemicals nor dehydrate.
Powder cleanser has the following advantages:
- is really gentle even for super sensitive skin;
- you can apply it to all skin types;
- all you have to do is mix it with water and massage into skin;
- not only does it cleanse but also it removes toxins;
- neither does it dehydrate skin nor irritate it – it’s all-natural;
- you can make it at home!
The base ingredient of each powder cleanser is clay that gives it the very loose form and is responsible for delivering these incredible cleansing properties. What do you know about clay?
Clay: The base ingredient of powder cleanser
This is nothing but natural and powdered mineral. It may look regular, yet it hides dozens of stunning properties!
First and foremost, clay has a cleansing effect – it removes impurities, sucks out toxins, unclogs skin pores. It’s known for being antibacterial, therefore it deals with acne-prone skin really well. Additionally, clay is able to soothe inflammations and bring relief to fatigued, irritated and tight skin. The most important though is that it supplies skin with essential minerals: silicon, magnesium, calcium, zinc and selenium. On the fly it also balances skin’s pH and eliminates the most common problems that skin may be affected by: acne, blackheads, dryness.
How to prepare your own rose powder cleanser?
I’m going to reveal you my simple recipe for clay-based rose powder cleanser that I fell in love with from the first use. I can’t stress this enough but it’s incredibly easy to prepare and I find it irreplaceable when it comes to face cleansing.
What do you need to prepare your own rose powder cleanser?
- white clay that is able to cleanse skin and regulate sebum
- oat flour that displays irritation-relieving properties
- powdered petals of Damask rose
- rose seed oil that eliminates discolorations
- moisturizing and soothing aloe extract
- a few drops of vitamin E that has an ant-ageing effect
Combine all the ingredients and put it into a small container, e.g. jar. Obviously, use a few drops of vitamin E, oil and aloe because your face cleansing product must remain in loose form. No sooner than before applying the powder to your face should you mix it with water.
Give rose powder cleanser a try! Trust me, it’s worth it!
