Winter is said to be the best season for facials. Because The Ordinary has conquered the cosmetic market leaving competition far behind, I decided to test one of their acid peels, the one labeled their flagship product. The bloody-red peel dense with active ingredients. Hit or miss? Let’s test!
The Ordinary Peeling Solution: description by the manufacturer
A glass bottle looks like other products launched by the brand, it looks cool, simple and modern. We receive 30 ml of fluid, bloody-colored formulation. Inside, there’s a blend of 30% AHA acids and 2% BHA acid.
The creators of the duo ensure it’s perfect to regulate sebum glands, lessen dark spots, wrinkles and scars. The Ordinary Peeling Solution is supposed to have amazing benefits for skin. And it’s vegan! It is recommended for oily and combination as well as aging, sallow, lifeless skins, lacking shine, needing improvement of the blood flow, affected by pigmentation spots or post-acne blemishes. In other words, it is ideal for virtually all skin types, regardless of age.
The Ordinary Peeling Solution: analysis of ingredients
The INCI list of this marvel is as follows:
Glycolic Acid, Aqua (Water), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Daucus Carota Sativa Extract, Propanediol, Cocamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Salicylic Acid, Potassium Citrate, Lactic Acid, Tartaric Acid, Citric Acid, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Tasmannia Lanceolata Fruit/Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Xanthan gum, Polysorbate 20, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol.
Glycolic acid – one of AHA acids – is put high on the list whereas water comes second. Other ingredients in large quantities include aloe extract, hyaluronic acid, carrot root extract, salicylic acid (BHA acid), tartaric acid, citric acid. The product is a real treasure trove of acids! Then it’s time for the most delicate ingredients, that is soothing panthenol, Tasmanian Pepperberry, glycerin. The big plus is that the product is formulated without alcohols, silicones, mineral oil, fragrance compounds.
How to use The Ordinary Peeling Solution?
The Ordinary Peeling has a high concentration of acids so it makes a better choice in the evening.
Apply it to cleansed, dry skin, skipping delicate parts of the face like eye area, lips, flares of the nostrils, all kinds of skin blemishes. Leave it on for approx. 10 minutes and rinse using warm water. It comes off easily. Next steps to follow: a toner, a mask or moisturizer.
My opinion on The Ordinary Peeling Solution
Yeah, it is cool. Those having oily or combination skin are going to love the product. It significantly boosts the “quality” of the skin. After first or second use you will see the effect because the skin starts exfoliating slightly. Remember not to use it on a daily basis, and always protect the skin with sunscreen. You can also notice that moisturizers roll up during the acid therapy but this unwelcome effect is gone quickly. After a few uses my skin got used to the product and it really looks great and glowing, it isn’t that oily, I’ve got fewer blackheads whereas the pores are less visible.
I must warn you, though, that this product won’t act like in-salon facials eliminating pigmentation spots or post-acne scars. The Ordinary Solution will only brighten them.
Still, I love it and think it ensures excellent skin care.
Have you heard of The Ordinary? Used it? I hope for comments 🙂
